Abstract Floral Paintings / Artwork

Floral imagery and abstraction are often considered a niche in the broader category of nature abstracts, but the popularity of this art form has transformed it into a distinct subset of its own. Flowers have always been a subject of wonder to humans, owing to their versatility and meaningfulness – for some, flowers represent new beginnings, celebrations and rebirth, giving these pieces an uplifting, cheerful quality. For others, flowers are the ultimate symbol of beauty, and are often considered synonymous with the radiance of nature.

There is a certain freedom associated with abstract flower art, which allows artists to play with colors, hues and textures to create vivid compositions which are almost equal to their real life counterparts in serenity and beauty. Delicate brushstrokes create curlicues and eye-catching bursts of color, and various textures are used to add depth and realism.

Floral abstracts borrow from the unfettered germination and bloom of foliage and flora and attempt to capture their dynamic effervescence. Artists also have greater freedom to explore different media, and floral abstracts are often created in mixed media format, although watercolors, oil paintings and sketches are also used. But no matter what the medium, the pieces succeed in capturing the joy and éclat which are universally associated with flowers.
